Where the Money Goes

SAWTOOTH  BOTANICAL GARDENS

We proudly support many Idaho horticulture programs, gardens and arboreta in Idaho. This is in keeping with our mission statement: to encourage a love of horticulture and gardening.  We maintain an annual membership at Sawtooth to support their education programs.

WESTERN IDAHO FAIR

Since 1897, the Fair has been the place to show off your skills as a vegetable or flower gardener. The funds we provide are used as prize monies/awards given for First, Second and Third place winning entries for gardening excellence.

BOISE STATE HORTICULTURE PROGRAM

Horticulture graduates work for retail & wholesale nurseries, greenhouses, floral shops, public & private landscape maintenance organizations, highway departments & agencies. We have provided monies for the students’ reference library and their testing & certification manuals.

GARDEN O’FEEDIN

Located in Garden City on the Vineyard Christian Fellowship campus, this remarkable vegetable and fruit garden provides fresh, organic food for more than 4500 people each year.  Our dollars have helped them purchase seeds, plants, irrigation equipment, and mulch.

BUGS

The Boise Urban Garden School for students 10-15 yrs old, integrates growing, harvesting, preparation, cooking and selling of garden products. Our gift provides resources and scholarships for students and teachers. The garden is at 4821 W. Franklin Road in Boise.

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE GARDENS

Working with Boise State’s Horticulture program, the Lunaria League is funding the renovation of the gardens at the Ronald McDonald House on Main Street. Our thanks to Jan & David Haneke and Adam Toothaker  for the garden improvements. Serving hundreds of families, the Ronald McDonald house is a sanctuary and “home away from home” for children needing extended medical care.

IDAHO GARDEN CLUBS/PNW GARDEN CLUBS

In 2007, the Golden Garden Club of Boise celebrated the completed renovation of  Capitol Park Plaza across from the Capitol. New benches, walkways, perennial beds, shrubs and trees created a comfortable and beautiful gathering place in the heart of downtown Boise.
